Synthesis Course Testimonials:

Cubase Guru's Synthesis course leaves no stone unturned. It's
comprehensive and hands-on which encourages the learner to get involved in the training. I have improved my skills 100 fold going through this course. Thanks Mark!

The Cubase Guru Synthesis Course has been phenomenal learning for me. Mark teaches many things about sound design, from the basics all the way to very meticulous details, including sections on just how you make that one sound you heard before. You learn the meaning of subtractive, additive, and frequency modulated (fm) synthesis. He shows you firsthand how to use very different approaches to get what you want with the sounds you are looking to create from your synth. This course, for the most part, focuses on the Zebra 2 synth by U-He. This is one of the most powerful and versatile synths out there, and now that I've actually taken this course, I KNOW how to compare them.

The course deals with oscillators, waveforms, equalizers, filters, effects like reverb and delay, amongst other things - and Zebra 2 supports a great deal of options on each of these variables. It has been a great pleasure to take this course, and though it goes slow at times (it is very meticulous and detailed), I know that it has given me an advantage I did not have before I took it. I've even stopped using presets in my synths and have started making my own - not by randomly moving knobs, but actually understanding what those knobs represent and how it affects what I'm going to get as a result of tweaking around! Thank You, Mark!

Hi, I’m Anthony and I am a beginner Psy-Trance producer from South
Africa.

I found the synthesis course to be a great learning tool for your average beginner producer like me. The course has taught me the differences between wireless/modular and fixed architecture synths. Section 1 showed me the principles on how you can use any synth to get a desired sound, not every synth is the same so some synths do more than others. I now know the purpose of using different wave shapes for different sounds. I now have a wider understanding of oscillators and how the tuning and modulation of an oscillator helps find a tone that can be moulded into a usable sound, and as for the phase options in Zebra, I now know that you can adjust these setting to get even more out of a simple tone.

The course did get technical and this is something a user should come to appreciate as there are some great tips, like using two oscillators with the same wave shapes and in sync to double the output making the sound louder. Using Zebra you can use a retrigger function so that the second wave starts at the same point as the note played. The description of filters was really nice as you showed us all the differences between them; this was covered well. I can definitely say that learning about modulation has opened my eyes to new possibilities. I like the MSEG and the modulation in Zebra, being taught how to use these functions has truly made a difference.

All in all I think anyone that wants to know more about synthesizers, modulation, effects, LFO´s, filters and the main objective Sound Design, then this course is worthwhile and value for money.

I recommend that you are open minded and are ready to learn :)

Psy-Trance Production Course Testimonials:

Psy-Trance is my life - I have been a Psy-Trance DJ for over 9 years.
I have always been inspired to create my own music, but without much success. Mark's Cubase Guru Psy-Trance Tutorials have taken my skills beyond another level. These tutorials have exceeded my expectations. I have been studying various forums and other tutorial videos for years only to get a fraction of the knowledge that the Cubase Guru course taught me. If you want to learn Psy-Trance, or create any other kind of electronic music, this is the series of videos to own. I'm confident now with a little more work I will finally be able to release the CD that everybody has been asking for. Thanks Mark!

The best tutorial I have ever seen about electronic music production. Really well explained, made by somebody that really knows what he is talking about. Can't wait for the next one, thanks for the time and effort you put into this.

I purchased the Psy-Trance course and so far I am overwhelmed with all the information you put into the videos. I was most interested with basics of EQ-ing and mixing as I could never seem to get my tracks sounding the way I would like them to. I have worked with a few producers and I do like the way you explain things. You do go very deep.

I found the Psy-Trance course very good and informative. I enjoyed the course immensely and it was worth the money. I’m particularly looking forward to the future synthesis and sampling tutorials as I have only a basic knowledge of this, so I’m hoping they will get me up to speed.
